A change of direction…

news2

To date i’ve tried to post more and more of my individual lessons to this site, a method that i don’t think is terribly practical. Therefore in future i’m only going to put important events, lessons or reminders on the site.

Lessons instead will appear in a scheme of work in one of the pages on the right, so if you’re interested in what’s coming up next week you can find out :) .

I’m also hoping to develop the teacher’s resources section with some fun stuff to inspire. I’d welcome any comments on this changes or ideas for future content.

The End of KS3

Also i’m coming to the end of my first batch of KS3 lessons, years 7, 8 and 9 so i suggest if you’re in one of my lessons make the most of it as you’re going to have to wait several months before you get any more dedicated IT lessons. It’ll be a shame to see you go (as I’ve only just learnt your names :) ), but I do get to meet a whole new load of your colleagues, which i’m sure will be loads of fun.

Classwork

If a person makes a mistake it’s not so bad, if a computer can do what 200,000 people can do, 5 times as fast, they can potentially make loads of mistakes!

Every system we create needs a testing method.

Classwork

“Validation is the process of checking if something satisfies a certain criterion” Wikipedia (2006)

Examples:

  • Checking to see if it’s true.
  • Checking to see if it works.

Write a list of 10 things you check before you come to school. Describe the method you use to check them.

For example, “I check I have all of year nine’s lesson planned and ready to teach. I do this by looking at what lessons are prepared on my memory stick and comparing it to my timetable.”
